Our Team

Paul Tergat


Tergat, the Company Chairman, is a renowned international athlete and global philanthropist. He has served as the UN MDG Champion and WFP Ambassador against Hunger. Moreover, he is the founder of the Paul Tergat Foundation which hosts the annual Sportsman of the Year Awards (SOYA) ceremony – a brainchild of Tergat – that seeks to recognize athletes who have performed exemplary within and beyond the boundaries of Kenya. 

In his capacity as chair, Tergat has been involved in Strategic Engagements with like-minded organizations, who have over the years, provided support in growing and nurturing budding talent in the athletics field which is part of the organizations’ CSR activities.

His great performance in sports saw Tergat undertake great responsibilities as a sports marketing. Through these opportunities and his recommendation, individuals and Kenya as a whole have grown in leaps and bounds as it plows back in the communities that outsource great sporting talent.

Tergat has won accolades in the local and international arena for his selfless efforts to promote sports as well as promote the well-being of the less fortunate in society. In 2010, Tergat received an Honorary Doctorate degree from the University of Western Cape, South Africa and the Bikila award from the New York Road Runners for his selfless nature.

Tergat brings onboard his experience in the sporting arena and beyond to provide strategic advice to organizations seeking to support and nurture upcoming athletes. This provides a platform through which current and prospective clients can engage in Cause Related Marketing (CRM) initiatives.

John Kaplich Barsito


Kaplich, the Director at FineTouch Communications Limited brings to the organization a wealth of experience in the communication industry. For Kaplich, providing quality service that meets a client’s need is his sole driving force. He has worked for several organizations and built a database of reliable key opinion formers and influencers with whom he works with to provide strategic and integrated PR, Media Relations and Event Management services.

He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication forms the University of Nairobi. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology, English and Literature from Kenyatta University and has many professional qualifications including a certificate in Protective Security, Certificate in Public Service Integrity Programme (PSIP) facilitation and a Certificate in Economics and Business Journalism from the Economic Development Institute of the World Bank and Africa Virtual University. He is also a member of the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK).

Kaplich is an experienced and prolific journalist with a wide network reach amongst the media fraternity locally and internationally. His prowess in writing is evidenced by the creative pieces that he has penned and has been published by the local media. He worked as a journalist for various mainstream media including the Kenya Times (1995-1997), the East African Standard (1997-1999) and the Daily Nation (1999-2000). His work experience goes beyond the world of journalism to incorporate Public Relations, a field he has worked in a Public Relations practitioner at KACA/ACPU among other organizations. 

His vast experience complemented by his experience in the international scene through various assignments provides a broad network/contact base that is a sure value addition to any communications work at FineTouch Communications Ltd.

Simon Chebon

General Manager

Simon is the key liaison person for FineTouch Communication within the sports fraternity and has been the SOYA Executive Secretary since its inception. Simon is also Paul Tergat’s local and international contact for his UN ambassadorial assignments. Having the privilege of wearing these two hearts, he has international exposure and served in various assignments to ensure that the organization provides exceptional service to its clients.

Simon holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and German Studies from the University of Nairobi. He also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing Management from the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM). 

He has vast experience in various fields having served, among others, as the Station Manager of Engen Parklands Service station. Prior to this, he attended a Dealers’ course at Edgemead Engen Training Centre, Cape Town and a related course in Pretoria, South Africa. He has also served in various capacities at the Ngenye Kariuki Stockbrokers, (NSE) for over four years. 

Joan Mbugua

PR Consultant

Joan who supports FineTouch Communications Limited is an experienced communications practitioner. She is the go-to person when it comes to PR. 

Her prowess is in writing strategies, communication plans, story articles, case studies and other informational, educational and communication materials for use in PR.

She is also a strategic thinker who comes up with creative ideas and provides support in their implementation. Her wealth of experience in journalism, teaching, communication for development and public relations has seen her assist the organization in meeting client needs through the successful implementation of projects tied to providing solutions and building brands. 

Joan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from Daystar University and a Master of Arts degree in International Studies from the University of Nairobi. She is also a member of the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK).

Johnstone K. Yator

Graphic Designer

Yator is the graphic designer at FineTouch Communications. He provides the creative aspect of the assignments handled by the other team members. His expertise in design work is exemplary. Some of the creative work he has handled includes design, layout, and printing of various communication materials for Kenya Seed Company, Mumias Sugar Company, and the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) among others.

He also designed and laid out the Athlete Magazine a quarterly publication that showcases the world of sports personalities across various sporting disciplines and the impact they are making home and away.

Yator holds a Diploma in Graphic Design and Communications from the Kenya Polytechnic. He has had a working stint with the Kenya Literature Bureau as a designer. 

His expertise and experience in design work is sure to change the outlook of whatever work FineTouch will handle for your organization.
